Laos: Learning Perspective
Opening up my travel journal to the pages from Laos and getting a perspective on the streets of Luang Prabang and also myself.
There are things I know about myself that I forget about myself.
How one tiny mosquito can wreck havoc on my psyche. How much I can sweat in temperatures of 105 degrees. How I’d rather risk death or serious injury than sit in the backseat of a van.
But also…
How I’m going to participate in the spiritual practice of the places I travel.
How I am always going to seek out art and artists.
How my preparation for an adventure — snacks, water, dramamine, extra clothes, anxiety-medication — is a form of self-care. How I feel always choose to drug myself to get to the epic natural wonder.
I will always be interested in learning new things and/or honing my skills.
I am not a person who needs to be in the picture…
…but love an abstract selfie.
What about you?
What is something you forget about yourself?
Have you been to Laos?
What visual art technique are you interested in learning?
Yep it’s hard to stop being the whole of what you used to be!! But it can make you focus!
Ooh yeah get back on the printmaking!! 🤣
1. I often forget I have a chronic illness and lie there scheming about what I think I’m going to do, then I get up and reality hits. Still it’s good to dream!
2. No I haven’t. It sounds fascinating.
3. I’m really focussing on writing now but i did learn screen and Lino printing in recent years which was really fun 🤩
Thank you for sharing your travel journals!
